You are a born chooser

At this point that you are reading, you have chosen to read. The moment you stop reading, you have chosen not to read. The great thing about life is that life allows you to choose no matter who you are, whatever your background and however insignificant you may think you are. It is our choices that determines our progress not fate or luck or destiny. We choose our happiness, we choose our friends, we choose how to relate to others, we choose our attitude. Being a winner or a loser; a success or a failure; a leader or a follower; are all the outcome of our choices.

The question that we ask then is ‘How do we ensure we make the right choices?

Be independent – don’t be forced or coerced into selecting what others want. Having an independent mind, self belief and confidence are prime requisites to make decent choices. Never let others decide for you no matter who they are; they could be parents, siblings, elders, bosses, friends, well wishers for none of them can take responsibility for your choices. They can share their views, raise their concerns, introduce you to a different way of thinking and it would be wise to consider their suggestions but the final choice must be made by you without them forcing or pressurizing you in any way.

Analyze before you choose – weigh the pros and cons. Ideally your choices must never be based on snap decision except when it is an emergency. In all other cases, study, analyze, think, mull over, compare, contrast, weigh the options before you finally make the choice. Be careful not to fall into the trap of paralysis by analysis; which is nothing but indecisiveness.

Be decisive – don’t oscillate once you have chosen – A common problem faced by many is that after making a choice they have second thoughts. They then oscillate between the choice made and the alternatives thereby disturbing their peace of mind as also confusing those around. A few choices will go wrong for a variety of reasons but the fear of going wrong should not limit you from not choosing. Remember that not choosing and sitting on the fence can also have consequences and more importantly it is also a choice you have made albeit passively.

Review your choice – change it if you come up with strong reasons to change – There are times when new information or unexpected changes require you to review your choices. Do not be adamant and hold tight to your wrong choice. Reviewing and changing your choice for valid reasons is an important choice to be made. When required do not shy away from changing your choice.

Be prepared to pay a price for your choice – your choice always comes at a cost – For every choice you make you have to pay a price. Just as there are no free lunches in this world there are no choices that have no repercussions. Keep in mind that the price you pay is worth it for the benefits of your choice far outweigh the price you pay, which is the reason you made the choice.

Never regret – nor apologize – stand by your conviction – If you take responsibility for your choices, you will never regret nor apologize nor have self doubts. A choice that goes wrong simply means that you were inadequate in determining the right choice. It could also indicate poor preparation, lack of understanding, an obstinate refusal to pay the price for the choice or it could be simply that the goal posts changed unexpectedly. Believe in yourself and your choices.

Try these:           

  1. List out the last three choices that went wrong for you. Analyze the reasons for the choices going wrong.
  2. What would influence your choices in the following cases:
  • Taking up or refusing an opportunity to be posted abroad
  • Betting on the winner in a sports tournament
  • Participating in a dare
  • Moving out of your comfort zone
  • Standing guarantee or refusing to offer a guarantee for a loan taken by a friend

Choosing the right pain

It is often said that pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. There is much truth in this statement. Today though, we are going to look at choosing the right pain so that suffering never becomes an option. This is the pain of discipline which in the long run is an excellent antidote against physical, emotional, moral and ethical suffering. The problem with discipline is one of finding the right motivation and sustaining it over a life time. Discipline is one pain that is not excruciating but is more in the nature of a dull ache that remains lifelong. However it is also a pain that is a constant reminder that one is active, making progress and rapidly moving towards attaining some goals.

While motivation is the fulcrum around which discipline revolves, there are other factors that play an equally critical role. Here is what one needs to do to cope with the pain of discipline so that the ache is relatively easier to bear and put up with.

Set goals – The first thing each individual needs to have in front of her/ him are clear cut goals to be achieved. Very broadly one must have goals for personal, financial, professional and emotional aspects of one’s life. Goals must not be mere dreams or hopes but clearly outlined end points to reach. Use SMART goal setting to list out your goals. Your first goal is to read up on SMART goal setting and write down your goals.

Plan your day – Remember school days where there was a time table that helped ensure you did all the home work and prepared for tests. It did help that the schools and teachers were strict and enforced the discipline. Something similar like a time table existed in college too but we were largely given a choice to follow it. Except for attendance being taken off and on, no one really enforced anything. Perhaps that is the point where we lost focus in following a time table. If one has a plan or time table for the day, it enables one to focus on tasks required to attain the targets set. More importantly one can prioritize which is the key to time management which is another important aspect of being disciplined.

Make no excuses – Excuses are the bane of discipline. Waiting for an auspicious day, date or time is one excuse that delays starting. However even more dangerous are the frivolous reasons or excuses that we use to rationalize being indisciplined. Eliminate excuses and pronto you get disciplined.

Learn to say NO – If excuses are a bane for discipline, our inability to say NO to others as well as to our own devilish mind are the super bugs that destroy any semblance of discipline in us. Saying NO to others is viewed as being rude, bad mannered and very unpleasant. However what we forget is that one needs to say NO to anyone or any situation that is potentially harming our interests. It does not mean that we are self centered but focused on the greater good for the self. We certainly refuse sugar in any form if suffering from serious diabetes but find it hard to say NO to something that will definitely disturb our discipline and in turn cause hurt or damage to us. Incidentally, even a diabetic may find it hard to say NO to a very tempting dessert and all the good work done to control his/ her diabetes is undone because of lack of self discipline.

Find MOTIVATION – Motivation comes from fear or gain. The first form of motivation is rather negative in outlook but is just as effective to be disciplined. Fear of ill health is the major reason for people adopting healthy life styles be it exercising, eating right, avoiding smoking etc. However the greater motivator is the prospect of gain. Being appreciated for the fitness, feeling energetic and looking smart are more appealing reasons for having a disciplined life style. Similarly find intrinsic motivation to be disciplined. Intrinsic motivation is  the Motivation that gives you a high from within. Intrinsic motivation is more sustaining, readily adopted and much more fulfilling in the long run; discipline is nothing but embracing motivation.

Try these:                 

  • Have you written down your goals? If not do it first.  Next write down the special actions required to be taken to achieve your goals.
  • Practice saying NO at least three times a day. Toughest is to say NO to a boss / person in authority. When was the last time you said NO to your boss?
  • Can you identify your motivation to read this post till this point? How are you going to make use of the learning’s from this post?
  • If you had time to do just three things before you die, what are the three things you would do? Can you do them NOW?

Live your dreams

Live your dreams

Parental direction, supervision by teachers and society expectations are the influences with which most of us are brought up with. As a result, the conditioning of individuals is largely focused on pleasing the expectations of these diverse set of influencers. Net result is that we surrender our individuality, create an artificial being who is meeting expectations of others but is often deeply dissatisfied within. To break out of this circle is tough because it would mean charting one’s own course with little hope of support and the possibility of not fully attaining the dreams one has. Yet the fact that we have just one life and it is better to make it ‘my own life’ rather than ‘trying to fit into someone else’s view of life’ should be incentive enough to break out and furrow one’s own path.

Dream it – The path to your personal glory begins when you can dream about what is the glory you seek for yourself. The dream need to be grandiose, it can be off beat, it must be something that ignites enthusiasm in you and above all it must be clearly visible in your inward eye. You want to be the top honcho; go for it. You want to play for your country; nothing can stop you except you. You just want to be a happy contented person; seek ways and means to realize that dream. Just ensure it is your personal dream not something you are doing to make someone else happy. The size of your dream does not matter. The quality of your dream determines how you go about attaining it.

Develop it – If the dream is clear, it is time to wake up and get about the business of achieving it. It all begins with planning. Create a blue print; develop a road map; outline the milestones. No dream is realized by pure luck. You want to win a lottery; first step is to invest in the ticket. So everything begins with having a goal, charting out the steps to realizing it, in built the strategy to overcome hurdles, be mentally prepared for a long haul and then start.

Do it – The key to shaping the world the way you want it is by beginning in earnest, continuing with passion and striving for excellence. It is possible that along the way there would be hiccups, obstacles, demotivation and frustration. Yet if the goal is clear the patch well chalked out and your confidence and self belief intact, you will ride the momentum built by your passion to reach the destination. However, action is a long drawn out and often a lonely journey. At times it makes you revisit your own decision. Other times you get energized by the thought of achieving what you have dreamt of. Many a time you will be criticized, condemned, ridiculed and roughly sidelined. That is when your intense desire to leave your own unique mark in the world will be the only thing that will fuel your spirit to create, conquer and rule your own destiny.

Try these:

  1. Try living for a month on one third your normal monthly expense.
  2. Give 4 hours of your time weekly to any social cause. Be part of a social organization or do something tangible for a cause you believe in.
  3. Work on overcoming one bad habit you know is limiting your effectiveness.

My vision for the New Year

18- 01 - 01 Jan 18 -Your visionA New Year; a new perspective for the year is the aim of this post. Rephrased – it is MY New Year and therefore it is MY Vision for the year that I will lay out.

It is obvious that each person reading this post will have to identify and enumerate his/ her own vision for the year.  What is common though, is the following reality that is applicable to each individual :

You need to see your vision –  This is perhaps the toughest aspect of the  process of visioning. It requires that the individual spend time thinking about what he/ she wants from life, the goals to be set, the process of attaining the goals, the dreams and aspirations one has, seeing a larger picture of the personal future that one hopes to attain. The process is constantly evolving through out one’s life time. What is critical is the individual being able to regularly nourish the dreams/ vision with hope, faith, effort and passion.

You need to trust your vision – The trouble with visioning is that we start questioning ourselves and our abilities to attain what we deeply cherish. If the individual cannot trust his dreams, it will be extremely difficult for him/ her to convince others, to personally put in the best and to work with passion towards the vision. The biggest problem comes from naysayers, critics, well meaning but vision-less family, friends and mentors. Your vision is something you have set for yourself and so it is almost impossible for others to appreciate and understand its significance for you. When the vision is clear, the passion strong and the effort ceaseless, nothing can stop you from attaining your vision.

You need to work for your vision – You and you alone have to take responsibility for realizing your vision. You cannot blame circumstances, fate, detractors for your failure to realize your dreams. Hard work, smart work and focused effort will be the bed rock on which any vision gets realized. No one but you can do it. Of course, one needs to evolve the vision to suit the times. One needs to be pragmatic yet optimistic, passionate without being obstinate, learn to adopt and adapt current trends and plan with purpose and execute with diligence.

Try these:

  1. Just list out 5 goals you seek to achieve in the next six months. Ensure you have an inbuilt measure to determine your progress each month.
  2. Write down what you will do with a one million ( ten lakhs) rupees lottery that you win?
  3. Outline your vision with respect to the following
  • Increasing your knowledge
  • Enhancing your financial well being
  • Contributing to social causes
  • Making your family life even more fun filled

How to have a wonderful day

33-a-good-dayA perfect day would always be relative to the experiences of the past days yet each of us can strive to make each day a wonderful day. No matter what happens during the course of the day, if the day has not been wasted, it becomes a wonderful day. So the simple rule to follow is to have a plan for each day, strive your best to ensure you have worked well to achieve your plans and at end of day your heart is filled with happiness and satisfaction.

The trouble most of us have us with our time. For most of us, we just don’t have enough time to do all what we want. For others especially those who are retired, time weighs heavily and each day seems slow and unending. The reality is that if we plan each day, we will be busy; we would have something tangible to achieve and end of day we would have made significant progress and less dissatisfaction. A plan would give us something ready to work on, give us a milestone for accomplishment and ensure that we are kept fruitfully occupied.

A plan helps us have a roadmap but we have to walk the talk if we have to reach the destination. The problem for many begins here. While our plan and intent are positive, when it comes to walking the talk, we have a number of excuses, problems and explanations to rationalize our inefficiency and inability to give our best. The trick here is to find a passion and motivation to begin and sustain doing all what we have to do to make our plans become fruitful. In the process we would forget the time, lose ourselves completely in doing what has to be done. Success is never guaranteed but the satisfaction of done a good job, a great effort and a fruitful use of time is certainly guaranteed.

The one issue that spoils an otherwise wonderful day are the sudden unexpected failures, bad news and coping with negative energies and thoughts. Managing that is challenging but not impossible. The way to do that is to change perspective. View each such impediment as ‘ it could have been worse’ or ‘now I have learned that…’ .  It is important to be reasonable and rationale in our thought for it is our thoughts that spur emotions and actions. Once you can control or reorient your thoughts, every day will be a wonderful day, for you would have learned how to appreciate the wonders of each day.

The happiness that follows when we are satisfied that we have given our best shot, is something that is priceless. The happiness is reflected in the sparkle in our eyes, smile on our face and then everything else fades into oblivion. We may look overworked, we may be wearing crumbled clothes, our hair could be ruffled and unruly but there would be a spring in our step, our aura would exude success and excitement is palpable.

A wonderful day would be all these and more…try it and see the difference.

  • Write down a plan for 2nd weekend of the next month. Follow the plan and find out for yourself if plans work.
  • What would you do with the money you win of Rs.1 lakh in a lottery?
  • What are the three priority areas in your life that you would want to improve upon? Do you have a plan for achieving it?

The power of thoughts

Each and every one who is reading this post is bombarded with a million thoughts every single day. We dismiss most thoughts as irrational, impossible, incongruent and impractical to deal with. The stray thoughts that remain after our initial filtration can be broadly classified as positive thoughts or negative thoughts. We sometimes proactively work on some of those thoughts or let circumstances force us into acting on a few other thoughts. What we fail to appreciate is that we as human beings have the rare privilege of being blessed with thoughts that act as stimulus to achieve extraordinary success if we simply engage more of these thoughts with self belief, purpose and positivity.

To reign in our thoughts so as to leverage its potent possibilities to our advantage we need to focus on the following

Listen proactively: Since we are deluged with innumerable thoughts, we are never short of possibilities. However, we are often inattentive, prone to be dismissive of many ideas and nip them in the bud or we fall in love with a thought only to forget it shortly thereafter. The trick is to listen to ideas proactively; believe that each thought has a valuable insight, juggle various thoughts consciously, look at problems as opportunities to exercise the grey cells and always carry pen and paper in the fond hope of getting a great idea. Do try to jot of some of the new thoughts so that when you read them again, they will trigger multiple ideas.

Explore creatively: All progress is the result of a ‘creative exploration’ done by individuals with the zeal, passion and self belief that they can leverage their ideas. The trick is to juggle various possibilities and select one that suits ones personal likings has a good fit with one’s personal, business or social objectives and surmount the obstacles that loom in front when the idea dice is rolled. Fear of failure is often the most common reason why people give up on ideas without much thought. To be creative one has to occasionally connect the dots, at other times fill in the gaps and far too often come up with out of the box solutions. The best of creativity comes when a person is passionate and he/ she is desperate. The urge to succeed must overcome the fear of failure if one has to become successful and creative.

Plan purposefully: Many an idea never sees the light of day simply because one is lazy, indifferent, casual, fearful, lacks self belief etc. but most of the time it is because one does not plan with a purpose. A plan starts with a clear goal and road map chalked out. This is not the result of a sudden flash in the pan event but the outcome of study, research, analysis and determination. A good plan must incorporate time frames, have inbuilt flexibility, have a proper resource allocation strategy and must be capable of being revised smoothly should the need arise.

Act decisively: A plan on paper is simply a redundant document. The plan comes alive when one begins by committing to the plan and decisively acting on the course of action outlined. Being bold and being committed are the two pillars on which decisive action rests. Acting decisively should not be mistaken to mean that one has to prod on even if the writing on the wall is clearly not in favor of it. There are times when being decisive means cutting one’s losses and quitting. Being decisive is like driving a car, merely sitting on the driver’s seat and turning the steering is not enough; one has to start the engine, engage the gears and move ahead balancing the accelerator and the brake pedal.

Remember: First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination. Napoleon Hill

Our business in life

Our business in life is not to get ahead of others, but to get ahead of ourselves — to break our own records, to outstrip our yesterday by our today. ~Stewart B. Johnson

Time and time again, many of us end up wishing we could do better in life. While having more wealth would perhaps be uppermost in our wish list, there are many other yearnings like being better looking, more articulate, more daring, more intelligent, more popular etc. What is common across this spectrum of wishes is the reality that our desires are often fueled by a streak of jealously or a craving for them because someone else has it in ample measure. A natural corollary of this sort of thinking is a subconscious breeding of negative emotions and a stifling of our own strengths, abilities, talents and potential.

Without exception, each of us is blessed with a uniqueness that is hard to explain, difficult to identify but something that is definitely possible to utilize. Nothing is as unique to each of us as our ability to think independently. So by tweaking our thinking inwards to our talents, our abilities and our immense potential we can focus on a structured, proactive and gratifying life by using all the gifts we posses to the fullest. We need not make great inventions nor are we required to take path breaking steps to leave our mark in this world; all we need to do is improve everyday and thereby influence the world around us personally, progressively and positively.

To improve and get ahead of ourselves we need to PLAN

Prepare– No one wins a battle even with himself/ herself without preparation. The primary requirement is to make an objective personal assessment of one’s own strengths and weakness, outline the contours of personal potential and perceived limitations and make a personal scorecard in the form of GOALS. Progress can then be measured, slippages be recorded and the effort required clearly identified once the preparation is comprehensively done.

Labor – From birth onwards we have to labor or work, right from the time we wailed loudly at birth and progressively thereafter as we learnt to speak and walk. Fortunately for us nature had prepared the blueprint for our development from babies to being children and then our parents and teachers prepared our blueprint to adolescence.  From adolescence when we began to have our own independent thinking the labor slowly became more personal and individual specific. If we have cultivated good habits, encompassed the right work ethics and have the right attitude we can utilize our preparation with the appropriate effort to achieve our goals. However labor is not embraced easily because it involves hard work, discipline and the rewards are occasionally not commensurate.

Assess – For the average person nothing is more painful than getting a report card. Assessing one’s progress and performance in real life is far more tougher for the failures are more painful, occasionally there are no second chances and success often seem very fleeting and momentarily. Yet when viewed with faith and hope as the predominant emotion, a pragmatic assessment offers us opportunities to progress, improve and excel. We can become aware of the corrections we need to do in order to realize our full potential and it also helps us luxuriate in the coziness of our success especially when we had planned and labored well.

Navigate – There are times when we can be numbed by our inability to progress, stunned by unexpected failures or stumped by quirks of fate that would challenge our resilience. For some of us it is equally probable that we can be drunk with success, fail to appreciate that we did get lucky breaks and go adrift in the vast ocean of life. It is these times that necessitate that we navigate carefully, purposefully and successfully through the minefield of self doubt, fear, arrogance and brazenness.

If we can plan our life as above, everyday would bring us the joy of personal progress, the thrill of looking forward to tomorrow and the bliss of a fulfilling life.

Try this:

  1. Outline 5 childhood dreams that you have yet to fulfill. Now work out an action plan to attempt to achieve at least 2 of these dreams in a reasonable time frame.
  2. Make a list of 5 successful persons at least 2 of whom you have personally known. Enumerate at least 3 qualities that you believe made each of them successful.
  3. Assuming you had adequate financial resources write down
  • One personal dream you would try to realize
  • One personal quality that you would try to develop
  • One new skill set that you would go ahead and acquire
  • One social service cause you would commit yourself to

Reap as you sow…

Every morning we get up in the fond hope that we shall attain some worthwhile and tangible results during the course of the day. We maybe unsure of what exactly we expect but we are fairly sure that it has to be something that is to our liking. At end of day, when we look back we could possibly be left with a mixed day some good coming out, a large amount of indifference and monotonous happenings and occasionally some disappointing and frustrating moments. We react in different ways to each day, most times reasonably happy but when going through a rough patch as would happen if a close family member is very ill, then we would be upset, irritated and annoyed. At this critical junction in our life, we actually question the unfairness of the world and wonder aloud as to what wrong we have done to face such drastic consequences.

One needs to distinguish between the consequences of our actions and the happenings of fate in order to appreciate the reality that we are faced with. Death, illness, calamities are often the work of acts of god which are beyond the realms of human understanding or reason. However, there are plenty of self inflicted consequences that we are witness to and this is purely because of our own folly. A alcoholic getting liver cirrhosis or an obese person who takes no precaution to keep fit and suffers a heart attack are examples of self inflicted consequences. When we drink excessively or take no precaution to reduce weight, we never expect life to be too harsh and so we are confident that the results of our tardiness will never be serious. Unfortunately when calamity strikes, it is then it dawns on us that we are suffering the consequences of our lethargy and indifference.

In our day to life though we often make elaborate plans and preparations and when things don’t go our way we are terribly distraught and hate the consequences. What we fail to really appreciate is that with rare exceptions when acts of god override our plans, most times it is our flawed planning or unrealistic expectations of the results that leads us to face terrible consequences. A student who despite being advised to study regularly wastes his time and hopes to do well with a last minute studies and banks on some unethical means to score well would be mortified when he/ she fails the exams. Worse still is their rationalization of the consequences as being the result of questions being asked out of the syllabus, exceedingly tough questions paper being set, the perceived unfairness  of very strict correction etc. Nothing changes the reality though and the consequences are there as proof of some very unrealistic expectations of the results.

The concept of flawed planning goes beyond just the planning but extends to the poor execution of the plan too. The sports arena is resplendent with numerous examples of these phenomena. While at the briefing the coach would have meticulously chalked out the strategy and carefully selected the players, if the opposition has unleashed an action plan not considered at all, the entire pattern of the game is now turned on its head. The root cause of flawed planning is the basic assumptions made around which the plan is drawn up. The thousands of students who attempt very competitive exams, more in hope than in faith because  their own academic credentials are weak is a classic case of how our basic assumption of our ability itself is wrong and yet we plunge in with bravado. The concept of positive thinking does emphasize that we need to keep our face to the sun so that we do not see the shadow but this does not means we should not pay attention to the potholes along the way because of which we could stumble and fall. While hoping for the best results be pragmatic and then the ultimate consequences will never be a rude shock or a result in unbearable pain.

  1. Attempt something that you have never tried before like going on a trek, or being a master of ceremonies or organizing a party / picnic. This requires a lot of planning and hard work all of which is centered around the results you expect. After the activity is over evaluate the outcome and study it both from the point of view of the success it gained and the areas of improvement.
  2. Recollect some of the most wonderful moments in your life and 2 of the worst moments. How much of influence did your planning or lack of it have on these good and bad moments? Do you think you would have done / reacted differently to those outcomes?

The future is almost here

The reason many of us never live up to our full potential is because we are constantly focusing on either the past that we cannot change or the future that is yet to arrive. While we can learn from our experiences of the past, it is pointless brooding on it and making regular ‘if only’ statements to placate our conscience. Unfortunately we spend a fair amount of time regretting the missed opportunities, hurting because we believe our approach or strategy was misguided and rue the fact that we never got a second chance. However the really bigger crime we are guilty of is fearing the future and day dreaming about it when one must actually be working to create it.

There is no doubt that planning for the future is essential for everyone but this is an exercise any prudent person will undertake in moderation. The tough part is accepting the reality called the future. What many of us visualize as the future seems light years away whereas the reality is that the future is charging towards us with every passing moment. What we really need to pay attention to is the task on hand. If we have one eye on the future we will be able to ensure that what we do is what really is the most important job, which will in the long term, align itself to our immediate and future goals.

Another blunder that we are guilty of, is our belief that the future is beyond our control. It is obvious that we can’t predict what the future really brings, but that doesn’t mean we cannot anticipate with reasonable accuracy what the future is likey to be.  By throwing ones hands up and letting the future pan out is taking a very fatalistic approach and the consequences can be disastrous. On the other hand if one were to imaginatively visualize the future trends, it is possible that we are reasonably prepared to meet it with more daring and preparation. There could be some very eventful happenings that catch us completely off guard and yet anyone who is prepared can overcome the initial shock or surprise and bring his / her life back to even keel soon enough and use the future winds to steer their course.

The best insurance for the future is good planning and a focus on today’s jobs.  The biggest advantage is that we are both busy and productive with little time to brood over what will happen. This means that we channelize our energies into activities that give us returns both monetarily and mentally thereby uplifting our self esteem and confidence. That apart, we slowly but surely are tackling the future as it unfolds without being too conscious about it and without knee jerk reactions or panic or euphoria.  We are able to adapt to the changes and adopt the new practices that swoop in on us and engulf us in its fury. While the future could make us technologically disadvantaged, it also brings us the fruits of the technological advances and at the end of the day the pros and cons even out.

We can surely spare a thought for the future now and ask ourselves what would be our response since the future is around the corner?  You must fight the ill effects of future trends and embrace the revolutions that the future brings. Ecological imbalances, depleting water resources, disposal of nuclear waste, disposal of electronic waste, hacking, phishing  etc are definite identifiable problems that the future will be staring at and we need to be proactive and take a firm stand to reduce and if possible eliminate these millstones of the future. The communication revolution, the health care and new drug therapies, the computing and data base management expertise etc are game changers of the future and it will be best that we accept it and adapt to its onslaught.

  1. List out 3 changes that you are finding hard to grapple with. Can you pinpoint the reason for not being able to adjust to these changes? Is it your fear that holds you back? Do you believe those changes wont really matter to you ?
  2. What are the 3 changes that you hope the future will bring that will benefit you a lot. Eg. A cure for diabetes or a method of reducing the insulin shots.
  3. What are the 3 changes that you are most pleased with? Eg. ATM cash dispensation or the proliferation of TV channels that enables one to keep busy in old age
